I'll be honest, I do not often take a plane, or rather two, and go to a place I did not think exist on the map ... joke. I'll talk a bit 'of this particular site and beautiful in many ways, the people who inhabit it and the people I met doing this wonderful experience.
The Republic of Macedonia, is an independent state in the Balkan Peninsula in southeastern Europe. It borders Albania, Kosovo, Serbia, Bulgaria and Greece.
The region is seismically very active and has suffered destructive earthquakes in the past, most recently in 1963 when Skopje was heavily damaged by a very violent earthquake. The largest city is the Republic of Skopje, the capital, which has about 600,000 inhabitants. After Skopje, the largest cities are Bitola, Kumanovo, Prilep and Ohrid with a population between 50,000 and 100,000 people each (free data taken from wikipedia).
As I stated before, we took two planes to arrive in Skopje, once you are in Rome we made a stopover in Prague and finally arrived in Skopje we got on a bus that seemed to come out of a movie from the 50 , Toto's eyes were a little heart, knowing his vintage soul ...
once accommodated, our super leader took the route of sleep, we were in fact destroyed the very long journey ...
I'll tell you, I was very impressed by the landscapes, from the air you breathe, is not at all like any other city than any other country or nation! seemed to live in a completely opposite to the current era, is strange to think of today's technology and associate it with Macedonia ... There is no healthy living, food, the air we breathe, the people ... is really a country worth visiting , not to mention the cost of living, very low, clearly everything is in proportion ... Anyway, after an hour and a half plenty of travel, we arrive at your destination: a nearby Motel Vinica, baby (oh but its small!) agricultural town the place ...
We welcome the group of Macedonians and the Hungarians, then meet the Croats, Romanians, and only late in the evening we reach the Albanians.
admit that my difficulty was just the way we communicate, I studied English, but I knew I was rusty on the subject, oh well, I'll throw, not the only one I have language deficiencies do an exchange ... Intercultural means dealing with people of different cultures, understand other people's ethnicities, traditions, customs, food, certain behaviors in certain situations, for me it was the first experience, and I realized right away, of course, I would have been in a condition is completely different from what we live every day at home, in their own city. At the end you understand the language of intuition, instinct, is truly amazing!
I can say it's like Big Brother, but there are cameras and still less deletions, just us, 24 to 24 h, different guys who talk, laugh, joke, party, but also learn to understand that we are all one big country without racism, prejudice and constraints of all kinds. Only by making certain you understand that experience really worth it to pack up and go! Even without a goal, so there is always someone ready to welcome you, without fear of being misjudged or accused of something.
with this experience I I left I had many prejudices against Albanians and Romanians, given the news that they feel the TG, but fortunately reality is not always what they show us the average . Also, do not think that they do not prove the same for us ...
I know that maybe I have dwelt too much in the description of intercultural exchange, but felt I needed to say all these things, I felt I wanted to share this wonderful experience with you. I thank the New World Association for giving me this opportunity, I thank the coordinator of the exchange and Finally, I want to thank all those who have shared this experience with me! Do not waste time doing unnecessary things! Travel! The world is too good!
